Be Among the First to Experience Our New 18-Hole Layout
Following a significant investment, we’re excited to reopen our newly redeveloped 18-hole golf course. The new layout is fully open and playable, showcasing a completely reimagined course featuring four new holes.
Now playing as a Par 70, it delivers a refined test of golf - slightly shorter in length than the previous course, with broader appeal across all abilities and an improved pace of play throughout the round. The redevelopment has also included the installation of a brand-new irrigation system across all greens and tees, alongside significant investment in new course machinery. As we continue applying the finishing touches, we're pleased to offer excellent value introductory green fee rates for a limited time.
We look forward to welcoming you to experience the course at the start of an exciting new chapter.
What's changed?
About the NEW Abbey golf course layout
The course has undergone a major transformation and now delivers a completely refreshed golfing experience from the first tee to the final putt. Here's what's changed:
• Now playing as a slightly shorter, more strategic and enjoyable Par 70 layout
• Complete course reconfiguration creating a totally new flow and feel throughout the round
• The course now starts from the former 9th hole, giving members and visitors a completely fresh opening stretch
• Former holes 2 & 3 have been removed from play as part of the redesign
• Four brand-new holes have been constructed within the existing footprint of the course
• Including two fantastic new Par 3s, adding variety, shot value and memorable moments to the round
• Two brand-new greens have been built alongside several newly constructed tee complexes
• The former 16th hole, now the 9th, has been slightly lengthened into a brilliant risk-and-reward Par 5
Major Hole Transformations
The previous long Par 5 5th hole, now the 14th, has been completely transformed into an exciting new Par 4.
A brand-new green has been constructed just beyond the ditch, creating a much more strategic and visually impressive approach.
Then comes one of the standout additions on the course…
Just above the new green, a fantastic raised tee has been built into the hillside. Excavation through the brow of the hill has opened a dramatic downhill Par 3 playing towards the former 5th green - a visually stunning hole and one of the most exciting new shots on the course.
The former long, left-to-right sloping Par 5 13th hole has also been completely reimagined and now forms the new 5th & 6th holes.
The new 5th is a fun and challenging Par 3 featuring a newly constructed green positioned before the large oak tree, with bunkers waiting short & to the right. The natural contours allow players to use the slope creatively to feed the ball towards the green.
Just beyond, a newly built tee creates the new 6th, a strategic Par 4 playing into the existing two-tier former 13th green.
Club selection is crucial from the tee, with the hole perfectly suiting a well-shaped draw and offering the chance to get very close to the green with the right line.
One of the biggest upgrades comes beneath the surface…
A huge investment into a completely new irrigation system now delivers vastly improved water coverage to greens and tees, helping produce stronger, healthier playing surfaces and significantly improved year-round conditions.
Alongside the course changes, significant investment has also been made into new greenkeeping machinery, giving the team the tools to continue raising standards across the entire course. The result? A golf course that feels fresh, modern, more playable, more strategic and built for the future.
