This position is for a Sales Manager to focus on researching, penetrating and developing new business for our expanding portfolio.

General Scope and Purpose

To researching, penetrating and developing new business for our expanding portfolio.

To identify strategies to secure profitable conference, meetings and banqueting business.

To follow up sales leads, grow and maintain existing relationships and to drive new business.

Responsibilities:

Researching and qualifying potential direct customers with corporate accommodation and MICE business.  Securing these leads through own research but also working with hotel Revenue office to ensure that all leads are passed across to be follow up.

To be aware of new business, for both rooms and M.I.C.E., coming to the area ensuring The Abbey Hotel is their first-choice hotel or venue.

To develop strategic account plans detailing objectives, timescales and sales methods to support the defined account strategy.

To secure profitable meeting, training, and conference and banqueting business into The Abbey Hotel.

To demonstrate good commercial awareness of industry sectors and generate M.I.C.E. business and researching those sectors accordingly.

To support and encourage the with The Abbey Hotel carrying out regular and relevant pro-active sales activities including board spotting, closing days, business park drops, familiarisation trips and client presentations & events.

To work with the Director Of Agency Sales to ensure full, top to bottom, account penetration of all the hotel booking agents.

To work closely with the local Chamber of Commerce and other similar local organisations.

To undertake pro-active research so that The Abbey Hotel knows what the conference customers’ needs, expectations and aspirations are.

To benchmark The Abbey Hotel offer and price regularly in the market place.

To develop pro-active and innovative conference customer sales campaigns in conjunction with the Director of Agency Sales and Marketing Department.

To be responsible for driving, co-ordinating and managing all sales activity directed towards all conference bookers (Direct and agent).

Develop a strong internal relationship with the M&E Team, to create and execute an M.I.C.E. focused sales strategy.

To assist the Revenue Manager and Reservations Manager in managing local room accounts.

To attend local sales and networking events.
